Music

The Music course is aimed at developing students awareness of music, through listening, performing and composing. It is suited to students who enjoy listening to and performing music and who want to develop their skills further. Students will be expected to learn about five areas of study:

  • popular song
  • orchestral landmark
  • music for film
  • music for dance
  • music for special occasions

Pupils are also required to compose two pieces of music using music technology and learn an instrument of their choice. Students have homework to develop their knowledge of the five areas of study, to practise their chosen instrument and to complete coursework. The coursework is split into three equal parts.  These are: Composing, Performing and Integrated Assignment.
