Fern Britton is to Leave

Fern Britton will leave ‘This Morning’ when the current series comes to an end in July and is planning new projects and spend more time with her family. According to a source connected with the programme, Fern was in line to be paid reportedly £15,000 a show, while Phillip Schofield would receive £45,000 a show for the series. "After 10 years with ‘This Morning’, I have decided to leave the show at the end of the current series. I will present my last show on 17th July.” Britton said.

 

Primary School SATs Scrapping

This year the SATs may be the last because two groups of people, the national association of head teachers and the NUT teaching union that look after teachers say that SATs are bad for children’s education. They also say that the exams are only teaching kids to pass tests and not teaching them a wide range of subjects. This threatens the work of hundreds of thousands of pupils of 11-year olds preparing for this in May.

Undercover Teacher Found Guilty

A teacher turned journalist was found guilty of professional misconduct yesterday by the general teaching council after it was reported that she secretly filmed some of her classes. Alex Dolan filmed at four different schools in London and Leeds for a channel 4 programme between October 2004 and April 2005. She did not tell the pupils or the school that she was filming.

Sir Goodwin's House Vandalised

Sir Fred Goodwin’s house was vandalised yesterday by a group of people that we’re angry by how much he’s getting paid (£700,000 per year).Sir Fred took early retirement after bailout of £20bn needed from the government. The unnamed group said ‘We are angry that rich people, like him, are paying themselves a huge amount of, money and living in luxury, while ordinary people are made unemployed, destitute and homeless’. The damage was done to Fred’s Mercedes with a cracked windscreen and smashed windows.

Nottemham Forest manger could be keen to sign QPR Striker Dexter Blackstock. Crystal Palace Midfielder Carl Fletcher is happy to stay at Plymouth Argyle. He has been at the club on loan. The club has extended his loan spell until the end of the season. The MK Dons snap up Championship leaders 20 year old wolves Midfielder Stephen Gleeson on loan until the end of the season. Watford have signed 18 year old Tottenham Hotspur  midfielder Danny Rose  on loan for the rest of the season. The Hotspur midfielder joined the club from the league 1 side Leeds United at the start of last season.

The England All rounder Andrew Flintoff could be fit to play in the third one-day international in Barbados against the West Indies. The Player got an injury in the test series were England lost 1-0. The womens England cricket team go to World cup glory as they beat New Zealand in Australia.

Formula 1 News

This year’s formula season stays the same as there have been discussions that they might change the system. Now for the 2010 formula 1 season there are no points, it goes down as how many races you win. The Fia rejected the idea that this will be the system for the 2009 season but they have said “that we will make this system happen for the 2010 season”.   The countdown until the practice race in Australia is in 0 days 14 hours 19 minutes and 34 seconds and counting.

Liverpool are 1 point away from being top of the Barclays Premier League table after beating fifth place Aston Villa 5-0 on Sunday. Tottenham defender Chris Gunter has been reassured that he has a future at the club after being on loan at Nottingham Forest. He had been in the starting line up for Tottenham twice.
